Markosia Spotlight On: Evil Cast

Each week we’ll be turning the spotlight on one of the many quality books from our extensive back catalogue.

This week it’s the turn of Evil Cast.

“Fans of horror comedy won’t find another comic this entertaining. I want to live in this universe.” – Sadie Hartman “Mother Horror” (SCREAM Magazine, Cemetary Dance)

Created by writer, podcaster, and horror super-fan Kyle Stück (The Night Shift, Humming Fools) and illustrated by Enrico Orlandi, creator of Dark Horse’s The Flower of the Witch, this comic bathed in blood and self-awareness follows fictional versions of Kyle and his longtime collaborator Noah Baslé (Ominous Media) as they find themselves caught up in a horror adventure filled with all the monsters and evil they previously thought to just be stories.

Whether it’s through the recreation of classic horror movie posters for each issue or the playful tribute and subversion of tropes, this is a must-read for fans of the genre. Deaths are bloddy, jokes are sharp, and horror easter eggs abound.

PRAISE FOR EVIL CAST:

“Evil Cast defies classification! Is is Horror? Comedy? Action/adventure? Yes! Yes! Yes! Each issue is a new twist and turn and I can’t wait to get my hands on the next issue. – Chris Lackey (The H.P. Lovecraft Literary Podcast)

“Evil Cast hits that sweet spot where snarky laughter meets spine-chilling horror. Horror fans will catch the nods to the genre while following along as Noah and Kyle unravel the evil that is waiting for them in the darkness…so they can throw rats at it. Alternating between goofy and creepy, horror comedy fans will keep turning pages to reveal the mysteries at the heart of the story.” – Lish McBride (Hold Me Closer, Necromancer)

“Evil Cast is the best work of horror comedy since Evil Dead 2!” – Tony Farina (Comics in Morion Podcast)

“From the horror reference cover to the jokes, Evil Cast delivers as a horror-comedy. Fans of the genre won’t be disappointed!” – Aigner Loren Wilson (Tor Nightfire, The Nightmare House)

Hollow Girl – Collected Edition – Volume One: Identity

A femme fatale to stand side-by-side with some of horror’s creepiest slashers.’ – BLEEDING COOL

I AM NO-ONE

Six years ago, little Katherine Harlow killed her own parents. Showing no signs of remorse or regret, she was said to be a girl without a soul.

A Hollow Girl.

Now, wearing an expressionless white mask, Kat kills for the dead, a willing vessel for the souls of the wrongfully killed.

FATHER(S)

Hollow Girl’s past has literally come back to haunt her – the ghost of her father manifesting to remind her of the abused child she once was and twist her already damaged mind.

MR. TWITCH

Hollow Girl tries to find her lost humanity as she reflects on her past, including the dark night that made her what she is, how she learned to shoot and her first kill.

Also in this book are a number of short stories set early in Hollow Girl’s career, including the one that started it all and another that introduces an important character in Hollow Girl’s world.

Hollow Girl – Vol 16: Haunted – OUT NOW!

We’ve got to talk about Hollow Girl.

With her soul restored, Hannah is understandably a mess. Betrayed by her friend and idol – someone with whom she may even have been in love – she now faces a future as the new Hollow Girl, a role she inherited but no longer wants. Unfortunately, the dead won’t take no for an answer, leaving her with only one desperate option.

But Blunt – the man who watched over her while she was only a shell – is still determined to protect her, even if that means standing against an army of the dead.

With jagged linework seemingly carved into the pages to match the protagonist’s mental state, Luke Cooper delivers another bloody gut-punch with Hollow Girl: Haunted.
