Since landing a pair of power-inducing super-tech glasses, ‘Geek-Girl’ (a moniker jokily given to Ruby Kaye by her BFF Summer James after Ruby’s initial difficulty handling her newfound super-strength led to some klutzy actions) has blossomed from a self-satisfying ‘It Girl’ to the heroine of her city of Maine – taking down major-threat super-villain Lightning Storm and playing an integral part in stemming the crime wave that sprung up in the wake of the damage Lightning Storm did to Maine’s law enforcement; leading to Geek-Girl being offered the role of fronting a new Super-Team.
NOW: Drug-dealer Jacob Trencher has been robbed, shot and left for dead – but using his occult magik he has survived: and hired Voodoo Junkie Hitwoman Cabra Cini to find the person responsible and take care of things… which is going to put Cabra on a collision course with Geek-Girl, as that person is a member of her Super-Team!
Created and written by Sam Johnson (The Almighties, Gold Town) and illustrated by C Granda (Charmed, Grimm Fairy Tales), Johnson fills us in on the Cabra Cini/Geek-Girl: Exodus Crossover: “Exodus is a story that I’ve been developing for some time – and has evolved into an event that will dramatically change things for both Geek-Girl and Cabra.
“Jacob Trencher’s assailant has disappeared without a trace, but, utilizing a photo of them, a sygil and a symbol of fertility, together with her own bastardized form of voodoo magik, Cabra is able to find anyone. She does this by opening a portal to The Infinite, ‘Limbo’s crazy cousin, locked away in the attic,’ and following magikal symbols that guide her to opening another portal, leading directly to whomever she’s looking to find.
“The Rook, the Ruler of The Infinite, doesn’t like Cabra abusing his dimension this way, and throws everything he can at Cabra – both physically and psychologically – to ‘dissuade her’. Cabra doesn’t know it, but making it through The Infinite this time is going to be the biggest challenge of her life – as The Rook now has an added incentive in the form of Jacob’s estranged girlfriend Kristina: a soul in Limbo, whom he has taken a liking to,” Johnson concludes.
